With more than 20 years of turntable experience, several tracks featured by top DJs worldwide and a jaw-dropping mixing technique, José Spinnin Cortés is one of the most influential DJs and producers in the mexican dance music scene. .
Jose’s career starts in 1993 as a mobile DJ, and by the summer of 1996 he gets his first residency at “The Plantation” club in Guadalajara, México. After many other residencies he lands a 10-year long residency at one of Mexico’s most important gay clubs: Monica’s Club.
In 1997 he starts making music teaming up with his friend DJ RIchard Herrera, and by 2000 he starts producing bootleg remixes. In August 2005 he remixed Offer Nissim’s “First Time”, featuring Maya Simantov for the remix competition held byPeter Rauhofer’s label "Star 69 Records" in New York City. Jose won the contest, and gave him the exposure so artists and other producers begun requesting his work as a remixer.
In 2006 Jose is signed to the biggest electronic music label in latin america (+Mas Label/EMPO ) and releases his very first single: “IBEROAMÉRICA”. The track is a success getting heavy radio and club play, wich places Jose in the map of the Mexican electronic music scene and DJs and club goers alike start following his work as a producer. From then on he has remixed and collaborated with several artists ranging from latin pop singers such as Patricia Manterola, Belanova, 3 Ball MTY, America Sierra, Yuri, Fey and Maya Karunna, to international artists and DJs like Offer Nissim, Alyson Calagna, Barry Harris, Lorena Simpson, Jamie Bruce, Meital De Razon, Maya Simantov, Jesse Labelle and Suzanne Palmer. His body of work consists so far on 3 artist albums: “Again” (2008), “Heaven Can Wait” (2010) y "This Is The Revolution" (2013); and more than a hundred official remixes.
Jose’s production work has been heard on DJ sets from the likes of Peter Rauhofer, Offer Nissim, DJ Paulo, Stephan Grondin, Deep Influence, Alyson Calagna, Nick Terranova, Mauro Picotto, Hector Fonseca, Alain Jackinsky, Micky Friedmann, Mijangos, Abel, and Tony Moran, and he has shared stages with the likes of Antoine Clamaran, Tom Stephan, Afrojack, David Guetta, ATB, Axwell, Avicii, Blasterjaxx, Paul Oakenfold, Twisted Dee, B.T., R3HAB, John Dahlback, Sidney Samson, Paul Van Dyk and Armin Van Buuren.
He currently runs his record label Bearlin Records, as well as teaming up with Juan Belmonte Music in Spain, writing, producing and remixing for different artists. Based in Guadalajara, he is a resident DJ in Mexico´s most prominent gay club, Babel Club; while also traveling different cities through México, Canadá, USA, Colombia, Brazil, Spain, China, Korea and Nicaragua, exposing his fusion of Progressive, Tribal and tech-house beats.
